Re:Collections

See the re:collections exhibition from Friday 14th January 2010 until Saturday 26th Febuary 2010, at the TUNBRIDGE WELLS MUSEUM & ART GALLERY

Eight acclaimed artists and writers give their unique interpretations on rarely-seen objects from the Museum collection.

This exhibition shares a unique collaboration between 4 artists and 4 writers. Over the past year, the group have worked with the Museum's collections to create new pieces of writing and artwork. Each collaborator has then responded to the work of another, using their own creative talents to develop a piece of work. This unusual approach is a first for contemporary art practice in this area.

The group includes award-winning writers, poets and artists, all with a wealth of experience. The work in the show has been created by artist and printmaker Niki Campbell, writer and poet Catherine Smith, artist and printmaker Lindsay Connors, novelist Sarah Salway, photographer and mixed-media artist Ellen Montelius, poet and children's writer Mara Bergman, artist Lizzy Clayman, and poet and novelist Susan Wicks.

Visitors to this show will be treated to an extraordinary insight into the Museum's collections through newly created, contemporary artworks, poetry and prose. The exhibition promises to lead the visitor on a journey of discovery, with a chance to interact with and be inspired by the work on show.
